The Extreme Test
Robotunits carried out a series of tests on a customised Safety Fence System that was specifically designed for the client's needs.

Our client wanted to fit more robots into their existing small floor space. To do this, they needed a safety fence solution that could keep personnel in an adjacent cell to the robot cell safe. Numerous standard fencing solutions had been looked at and none could withstand the extreme requirements. Robotunits customised a fencing solution for this specific need, and as a result, the customer did not have to move to a larger and more expensive facility.

We pitted a robot loaded with 150kg payload against our customised safety fencing - that means the energy at impact was about 5000 J!

What the test showed:

• Containing the test robots within fences enabled the manufacturer to reduce the space required for each individual robot test cell.
• They could fit more robots into their available space, increasing their turnover speed, and reducing delivery times to their customers.
• The customised safety fencing was able to withstand extremely high shock loading.
